Wendy Rivera is the Principal Attorney at Rivera-Aguilar Law Firm, P.A. She has strong public interest track record and solid background in Civil Rights, Administrative Law, and Public Policy. Formerly, she was a Jr. Partner at Carmona Law, where she represented clients over a broad spectrum of industries with business transactions and legal matters.

Wendy served as Assistant General Counsel for a national regulatory and public affairs firm where her portfolio included foreign ownership investment in television and radio broadcast stations. She later joined the Multicultural Media, Telecom, and Internet Council in Washington, D.C. (MMTC) as Staff Counsel and Director of Hispanic Affairs. MMTC is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving equal opportunity and civil rights in the mass media, telecommunications, and broadband industries. Wendy’s work was primarily focused on Communications Law and issues impacting Latinx and women entrepreneurs.

Wendy spearheaded the organization’s first Immigration Reform Initiative where she successfully generated support for immigration reform from the large media, telecom, and broadband companies to expand opportunities for aspiring Hispanic immigrants to enter the media and telecom industries. 

As an ardent defender of civil rights, Wendy became a participating attorney for the Florida State Conference Branch of the NAACP assisting the Legal Redress Committee with employment discrimination claims.

Wendy has dedicated her time, energy, and commitment to many worthy organizations and causes. Under her leadership, Wendy launched and obtained funding for a digital learning initiative focused on increasing broadband adoption and student achievement. In 2015, she co-founded the Aspire to Inspire Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit as part of the ALPFA Orlando Cares Program. The program was created to inspire students from underserved communities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

In 2017, Wendy was selected as a member of the Google NextGen Policy Leaders.

Wendy is a Florida TaxWatch Citizen Institute Graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida and her Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law.
